SpaceGodzilla's origins remain ambiguous, but theory suggests he was born when G-cells cast into space—possibly by Mothra after her battle with Battra or via Biollante's spores—fell into a black hole. These cells reemerged from a white hole, assimilating crystalline organisms and rapidly evolving. The final result is a creature that once destroyed a NASA space station in its flying form before heading to Earth. On Baas Island, he captured Little Godzilla within a telekinetic crystal prison. He then traveled to Fukuoka, establishing a massive crystal fortress that drained the city's power through the Fukuoka Tower to fuel himself. His design incorporates tusks and a hissing roar reminiscent of Biollante, with prominent crystals on his shoulders serving as his energy source. Special effects artist Koichi Kawakita added these crystals and a head horn to hint at radar abilities.

In Their Own Story

In Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla, the JSDF deployed M.O.G.U.E.R.A (Mobile Operations G-Force Universal Expert Robot: Aero-type) to attack SpaceGodzilla after he destroyed a NASA station, but he initially overpowered it. Setting his sights on Baas Island, SpaceGodzilla captured Little Godzilla before moving to Fukuoka. There, he formed a crystal fortress that siphoned power from the city via the Fukuoka Tower. M.O.G.U.E.R.A attempted to intervene again but was defeated until it teamed up with Godzilla. The mecha split into Land M.O.G.U.E.R.A and the Star Falcon; Land M.O.G.U.E.R.A targeted the fortress foundation while Godzilla razed the power source tower. In the final battle, M.O.G.U.E.R.A blasted SpaceGodzilla's shoulder crystals, critically weakening him. Enraged, SpaceGodzilla destroyed M.O.G.U.E.R.A, though pilot Akira Yuki managed to knock him down before falling. Godzilla then fired his red spiral heat ray multiple times, destroying the clone. The JSDF later warned that continued space pollution could spawn another SpaceGodzilla.

To defeat SpaceGodzilla, one must target his shoulder crystals, which serve as his primary energy source. In his debut film, M.O.G.U.E.R.A's strategy succeeded only after blasting these specific points, leaving him vulnerable to Godzilla's red spiral heat ray. SpaceGodzilla possesses telekinetic abilities, allowing him to summon crystals from the ground and manipulate energy. He can exhale a Corona Beam from his mouth and generate a photon shield for protection. When flying, he assumes the form of a crystal cocoon. In the Godzilla Island series, Torema advised Godzilla to destroy the shoulder crystals, which allowed them to defeat him. A more powerful physical form called Super Special SpaceGodzilla High Grade Type 2 appeared later but was also defeated when Godzilla destroyed his left shoulder crystal, forcing a retreat to outer space.
